As families across the region prepare for a new school year, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU) is helping local students and families get ready through community giving, employee volunteerism, and financial education.
As part of FMFCU’s annual back-to-school efforts, the credit union hosted a school supply drive at all branch locations. Together, members and employees donated thousands of supplies, including notebooks, pencils, school bags and other classroom essentials. Donations went to the Crime Victims Center of Chester County and the Delaware County Health Department (DCHD), which provide support to children and families throughout the same communities FMFCU serves.
In Philadelphia, FMFCU’s Community Financial Education Department also visited Pennell School to distribute drawstring bags, rulers and folders to students and teachers. FMFCU also contributed $1,000 to DCHD’s annual Back to School Fair, while employees volunteered to pack 400 school bags for local students.
“School supplies may seem simple, but for a student, they can make all the difference,” said Rick Durante, Executive Director, FMFCU Foundation and Vice President, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility & Government Affairs at FMFCU. “When a child starts the year with the tools they need, they walk into the classroom with confidence. These donations help ease the burden on families and remind students that their community is behind them.”
FMFCU recognizes the financial pressure that comes with back-to-school expenses. The credit union hosted a Back-to-School Budgeting Seminar with practical tips for managing school-related costs and saving on supplies. FMFCU branches also embraced the season with themed activities and decorations. These efforts reflect FMFCU’s commitment to supporting local students and families and helping communities start the school year prepared for success.
