Food banks across the region face their greatest need for donations during the summertime. This June, FMFCU Foundation donated food and funds to 20 local organizations fighting food insecurity.
The Foundation’s Food Insecurity Fund, which began in 2020 to help food banks improve food access for our neighbors, is continuing to raise and distribute funds to local food banks. Since then, FMFCU Foundation has donated nearly $65,000 in the fight against food insecurity.
This year, in addition to funds, a food collection drive was hosted in all Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union branches during the entire month of June.
FMFCU Foundation has identified the following as 2024 Food Insecurity Fund recipients:

- Good Samaritan Food Closet- Paoli, PA
- Holy Cross Food Pantry- Springfield, PA
- HOPEPH- Philadelphia, PA
- Kennett Area Community Services- Kennett Square, PA
- Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry- Prospect Park, PA
- Loaves of Love, Siloam United Methodist Church- Garnet Valley, PA
- Media Food Bank- Media, PA
- Zion CME Church- Sharon Hill, PA
- Murphy’s Giving Market- Upper Darby, PA
- Philabundance- Philadelphia, PA
- Saint Mark’s UMC Church Food Pantry- Broomall, PA
- Saint Patrick’s Center- Wilmington, DE
- The Food Pantry at Ridley Park United Methodist Church- Ridley Park, PA
- Victory Christian Fellowship- New Castle, DE
- West Chester Food Cupboard- West Chester, PA
These organizations serve vulnerable communities as the cost of living continues to rise.
A TOTAL OF $14,000 AND 1,200 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DONATED.
In July, FMFCU Foundation presented these food donations to Chester County Food Bank and Food Bank of Delaware and through a collaborative event with 14 other credit unions, FMFCU Foundation also donated to Philabundance.
“Addressing food insecurity is a critical part of our mission at FMFCU Foundation. We are committed to supporting our local food banks and ensuring that our neighbors have access to the food they need,” said Rick Durante, FMFCU Foundation Executive Director.
FMFCU Foundation supports and recognizes education and charitable initiatives in communities served by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union. Programs include the Excellence in Teaching Awards, scholarships, education grants, food insecurity, Delco Hi-Q Academic Competition, and directly funds a number of other educational initiatives and awards.
