Twice a year, FMFCU employees step up to serve our communities through Care Crew Volunteer Week – and this year was no exception! From walking rescue dogs to helping with gardening, music education, and nonprofit operations, our teams proudly showed what it means to give back.
Here’s where we served during Spring 2025 Care Crew Volunteer Week:
Monday, May 12 – New Leash on Life, Philadelphia
Volunteers spent a beautiful day walking dogs at New Leash on Life, a prison-dog training program that transforms lives by improving outcomes for inmates and giving second chances to rescue dogs.
Tuesday, May 13 – West End Neighborhood House, Wilmington
Employees got their hands dirty helping with outdoor gardening projects at this nonprofit, which provides critical services, advocacy, and support to help families achieve self-sufficiency and build stronger communities.
Thursday, May 15 – Ridley Township Library with Keep Music Alive
Volunteers assisted with a “musical instrument petting zoo,” where over 50 instruments – from guitars and keyboards to percussion – were available for hands-on learning. Keep Music Alive promotes the power of music in education and everyday life.
Friday, May 16 – Home of the Sparrow, Exton
Our team helped with envelope stuffing and thank-you calls for this organization that supports women facing homelessness, helping them secure housing and long-term stability.
Vincent James, founder of Keep Music Alive, shared:
“I wanted to send a quick note to thank the FMFCU Cares Team for coming out to support our Musical Instrument Petting Zoo event last Thursday. Casey and the team were literally All-Star volunteers, which was a HUGE help as over 150 parents and children attended over the 2-hour period.
The large library event room was literally mobbed at times and the FMFCU were complete naturals interacting with parents and little ones (we saw lots of smiles all around). Please let them know how much we truly appreciate their help that day and each are welcome to come help out at any of our future events.”
We’re proud of the impact our team made across four organizations in four different communities – all thanks to Volunteer Time Off (VTO).
