About Plaid
Plaid provides an easy way to transfer funds with your FMFCU accounts and accounts OUTSIDE of FMFCU from other financial institutions. All of this can be done with FMFCU’s Digital Banking. It uses the existing online sign-on process from those institutions, allowing for quick and easy access.
Plaid is a financial technology company that serves as the middle man between financial services and their users. Apps, like Venmo and Robinhood, use Plaid to securely link their users’ accounts to their own platforms. This way, the financial apps never access your information, relying instead on Plaid to supply it for them. Plaid uses these measures to keep your information secure:
-
- End-to-end data encryption
- Multi-factor authentication
- Cloud infrastructure
- Robust monitoring
- Third-party security reviews

ALTERNATIVE EXTERNAL ACCOUNT SETUP (if Plaid is not available for your financial institution)
If you are unable to find your financial institution on Plaid, you will need to manually enter the account and routing numbers for your external account by choosing Micro-Deposits.
Two “micro” deposits will be generated and sent to the external account (typically within 5 business days). Once you have received these two micro deposits in the external account, make note of both amounts, and go back to Add/Modify External Accounts in Digital Banking to complete the verification process. Only domestic (U.S.) banks are permitted.
