May 11 and 12, 2007 PHISHING ATTEMPTSATTEMPT #2 12:00 pm - 5/14: The fraudulent site has been shut down. 8:30 am - 5/13: FMFCU has identified another phishing attempt. This one asks you to fill out a survey with your credit card and PIN information in order for you to receive $100. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS OR ENTER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION! The email contains this text: "You have been chosen by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union online department to take part in our quick and easy 5 question survey. In return we will credit $100 to your account - Just for your time! Helping us better understand how our customers feel benefits everyone. With the information collected we can decide to direct a number of changes to improve and expand our online service. The information you provide us is all non-sensitive and anonymous - No part of it is handed down to any third party groups. It will be stored in our secure database for maximum of 3 days while we process the results of this nationwide survey. We kindly ask you to spare two minutes of your time in taking part with this unique offer!" It then instructs the user to click on a link that looks like it's from our web site, but it is not. To safely view the fraudulent web site so you can identify it if you come acoss it, you may click here for a pdf copy. ATTEMPT #1 11:25 am - 5/11: An email has been sent out telling users they have a Security Message Alert from FMFCU. Our logo is used and the email comes from franklin@fmfcu.com. Once the user clicks on the link which says "Click here to Resolve this problem", a web page appears asking for credit card information. For a pdf view of the web page, you may safely view it here. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS OR ENTER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION! FMFCU WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO DO ANY OF THESE THINGS. In addition, this email does not contain our special email key which is always visible on the bottom of every FMFCU email (except from Member Service Representatives). Also, the email is from "franklin@fmfcu.com". FMFCU does not have a email address like this. The main communications emails come from eservices@eservices.fmfcu.org.
