April 23, 2007 PHISHING ATTEMPT

UPDATE (3:19 pm - 4/24): The fraudulent web site has been removed from the internet.


3:47 PM - 4/23 : Another phishing attempt has been verified on FMFCU. This time it is using The Laredo National Bank in the email along with a transaction which it asks you to verify. The original phishing email is contained at the bottom of the email. View the copy of the email here.

9:45 AM - 4/23: A phishing attempt on FMFCU has been identified today (view a copy of the email here). This email asks members and non-members to enroll in FMFCU's Challenge Questions and failure to do so will result in blocking your account with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.

THE SITE THEN ASKS YOU FOR YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD NUMBERS, CVV, AND PIN.
DO NOT ENTER THESE!

FMFCU WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO DO ANY OF THESE THINGS. In addition, this email does not contain our special email key which is always visible on the bottom of every FMFCU email (except from Member Service Representatives).

Also, the email is from "info@fmfcu.org". FMFCU does not have a email address like this. The main communications emails come from eservices@eservices.fmfcu.org.
