Student loans provide one of the best ways to help finance a college education. FMFCU has partnered with a terrific provider, American Education Services / Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (AES/PHEAA), to offer you the student loan options listed below.

American Education Services is a division of PHEAA, which has grown from a small student loan guarantor with a volume of only 4,600 student loans in 1964, to one of the largest, full-service financial aid organizations in the nation.

Types of Loans

KeystoneBEST^SM Stafford Loans

FMFCU offers both subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loans. Both loans are available to graduate and undergraduate students and are government guaranteed. The difference between these loans is how the interest is paid. "Subsidized" loans are loans where the government pays the daily interest, while the student is enrolled on a half-time or greater basis.

Plus loans are loans that parents take out to cover the costs of education that remains unpaid by grants, scholarships and Stafford loans.

KeystonePLUS for Graduates

The Graduate PLUS loan is Pennsylvania’s low-cost student loan for graduate students. Together with lending institutions throughout the Pennsylvania community, we customized a version of this loan program to create the KeystonePLUS loan program for Graduates. The KeystonePLUS for Graduates loan helps graduate students meet educational costs not covered by their student aid package.
