School Education Programs

Elementary School Education Program

  • Fully Sponsored Field Trips
  • Start Smart Savers Club - free savings accounts and promotions
  • Classroom and seminar type workshops that promote financial literacy
  • Lessons include:
    • The Meaning of Money
    • Earning Money
    • Saving Money

Middle School Education Program

  • Personal finance program fully funded by FMFCU that uses a combination of live theatre performance, classroom lessons, and parental involvement to encourage middle school students to save
  • Theatre performance, "Googolplex@school," performed by the National Theatre for Children
  • Student workbooks and teacher's guides with four lessons taught by classroom teachers :
    • Needs are Yes, Wants are MAYBE
    • Only Borrow What You Can Pay Back Tomorrow
    • Earn It. Don't Burn It.
    • Pay Yourself First
  • Opportunities for students and parents to open free savings accounts

High School Education Program

  • Classroom and seminar type workshops that promote financial literacy
  • Lessons include:
    • Credit Unions: Here to Serve
    • Budget: Don't Go Broke!
    • How to Really Be a Millionaire
    • Earning Power
    • Using Credit Wisely
    • Credit Cards: Charge it Right!
    • Making Wise Financial Choices
  • Lessons are tailored for each school and can be taught in classroom or seminar format
  • FMFCU also participates in Co-op and Job Shadowing programs for high school students
