Nominate an Outstanding Teacher!

The Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding and dedicated teachers in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union created this award in 2007 in partnership with Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

Recipients of this award receive $500 and a commemorative keepsake. The recipient’s school also receives a $1000 award. A total of $28,500 will be awarded to schools and educators!

All recipients will be honored at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union’s Partners in Learning Celebration in April 2010 and recognized in an edition of the Delaware County Daily Times.

Eligibility

Nineteen teachers are honored. Teachers will be chosen from:
  • One public school teacher from each of the 15 public school districts located within Delaware County
  • One teacher from the Delaware County Intermediate Unit
  • One teacher from a Delaware County non-public elementary, one middle, and one high school (total of three).

All nominees must be Pennsylvania certified active teachers in a Delaware County public or non-public school and must provide direct instruction to students in a classroom setting.

This includes classroom teachers, subject teachers, certified teaching professionals who provide direct instruction to students up to and including grade 12, in a classroom setting, such as a reading specialist, speech therapist, learning support teacher, librarian, etc.

Educators in administrative positions are not eligible (principal, superintendent, etc.) Teachers are eligible to receive this award once in a five-year period. A list of Delaware County schools can be found here.

Judging

A committee comprised of representatives from Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, and others as deemed appropriate will judge nominations. The committee will review all nominations and select 19 recipients. The nominations may be based upon a teacher’s performance during the current school year or for efforts over many years.

The deadline for 2009 nominations has passed. Nominations will open again in December 2010.

All nominations must be submitted on an official electronic nomination form. Incomplete forms and paper forms will not be considered
